DESCRIPTION
This position provides technical support for chemical and biological training operations by preparing and handling chemical agents and biological materials used during training exercises. The position supports laboratory functions, ensures materials and equipment are properly prepared for instructional activities, and assists in maintaining standardized safety and operational practices.

NOTE: Some duties require full personal protective equipment and full face respirator wear for extended periods
- Maintain proficiency in toxic chemical and biological material operational safety procedures in support of student training activities.
- Prepare and handle toxic chemical agents and biological materials in support of COBRATF training exercises in accordance with established safety protocols.
- Serve as Safety Control Operator during toxic chemical agent training operations.
- Perform chemical agent and biological material handling procedures before and during training operations.
- Support compliance with operational safety procedures during student training exercises.
- Assist operations staff in verifying the accuracy of operational standards and safety procedures within applicable SOPs and lesson plans.
- Assist with the annual review and update of applicable SOPs and safety control procedures governing toxic chemical and biological operations.
- Maintain accountability logs and tracking records for personnel entering designated toxic chemical training areas in accordance with established procedures.
- Support site safety program activities, including participation in safety council meetings and related initiatives.
- Notify the Assistant Director / Operations Manager, COBRATF of any situation requiring immediate response involving toxic chemical operations.
- Support site operations by conducting decontamination activities and performing DAAMS sampling in support of toxic laboratory analysis.
- Conduct respirator fit testing for assigned personnel and maintain the respiratory protection program database.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/FORMAL TRAINING:
U.S. Citizen able to complete a national Crime Information check and financial institutions/credit bureau check. Applicants will be required to sign a Freedom of Information Disclosure statement.
Some college is desired with some experience as a 1st responder. Good verbal communication, writing, and organizational skills, especially in technical areas. May be asked to submit a writing sample
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE Level C) for extended periods of time
- Ability to meet and maintain requirements of the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening

- Associate’s degree or higher
- Previous OSHA safety experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in technical areas
- Ability to work effectively as part of an operational team
