What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Program Specialist position at Aid to the Developmentally Disabled, Inc.?
RISE is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1980 as Aid To The Developmentally Disabled (ADD) by family members who were concerned about the physical and emotional decline of patients compelled to live in crowded institutions.
These family members believed that appropriate treatment and training in a warm, sheltered, homelike environment would enhance their physical and emotional growth. With the support, funding and licensing of New York State’s Office of People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and the Office of Mental Health (OMH), ADD came to life.
We are seeking a full time Day Program Specialist in our Huntington location.
Participants of this innovative program are afforded the opportunity to use and build upon their current skill set to participate in the Life of the Community. “The Day Program Without Walls” offers a choice of daily activities that the participants of the program decide upon at regular meetings. The group works on individual goals and a daily routine, even though the activities for the day vary. Typical activities focus around the creative arts. Activities include, production of plays, recreation therapy, Yoga, Dance, Singing and Arts and Crafts. This is a state of the art program and an incredible opportunity to support people with ID/DD. If you believe you could be our next energetic Day Program Specialist, we encourage you to apply. This program has been highlighted in many Newspaper articles as well as Channel 12 news !
