Position Overview

The Quality System and Inspection Manager plays a key role in maintaining and improving our Quality Management System (QMS) while performing hands-on inspection and programming work. This position combines technical inspection expertise with quality system management, ensuring compliance with AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 standards.

You'll lead internal and external audits, manage corrective actions, communicate with customers on quality issues, and ensure every process and product meets our stringent aerospace standards.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and final inspections using CMMs, height gauges, micrometers, and precision instruments

  • Program and operate CMMs using PC-DMIS software

  • Collaborate with machinists to resolve dimensional and process-related issues

  • Manage and maintain the calibration program, including NIST-traceable records

  • Track and document nonconformances, customer complaints, and returned materials

  • Review and maintain aerospace travelers for accuracy and completeness

  • Communicate directly with customers regarding quality issues, corrective actions, and documentation

System & Long-Term Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the QMS documentation (Levels 1–3) to meet AS9100D / ISO 9001:2015 standards

  • Plan and conduct internal audits; support external and customer audits

  • Lead and ensure timely closure of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)

  • Compile and present quality performance metrics for management reviews

  • Coordinate and record preventive maintenance activities

  • Deliver or coordinate quality and compliance training for employees

  • Manage risk assessments, including COTO logs and process change control (PCO/DCO)

  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and quality initiatives

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in precision manufacturing or aerospace quality systems

  • Proficient with CMM operation and PC-DMIS programming

  • Strong knowledge of AS9100D / ISO 9001:2015 standards and auditing practices

  • Experience with calibration systems, UniPoint (or similar QMS), and ERP software

  • Strong understanding of blueprints, GD&T, and aerospace specifications

  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills

  • Proven leadership, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally

  • Extended periods of standing or sitting at CMM workstations

  • Regular exposure to a manufacturing environment (noise, machinery, small parts)

  • On-site position — must be available for in-person work
