Our boutique trial attorney firm in Charlottesville is seeking an experienced and motivated Paralegal to join our fast-paced and collaborative team. You will work closely with attorneys on all aspects of trial preparation and litigation across Virginia.
We are a three-attorney, three-paralegal personal injury firm with a strong referral network and a large client base. Approximately 85% of our caseload is medical malpractice, with the remainder involving personal injury, auto, defamation, and legal malpractice matters.
What You Will Do
- Draft demand letters, pleadings, written discovery, and memoranda
- Conduct medical and legal research
- Coordinate and communicate with expert witnesses
- Track and manage all case deadlines
- Schedule depositions, hearings, and trials
- Interview prospective clients
- Order, organize, and summarize medical records
- Communicate with clients and referral sources regarding case status
- Assist with attorney professional activities and committee work
- Support additional tasks based on skills, performance, and interest
Training and mentorship will be provided on litigation processes and trial practice management software.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work independently
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to balance multiple deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work full-time, in-person at our Charlottesville office
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior medical malpractice paralegal experience (strongly preferred)
- Prior personal injury litigation experience
- Pre-law candidates able to commit to a minimum of two years are welcome
