Experience: 10 Years (Insurance Domain)
Engagement: Full-Time / Onsite-Hybrid
Location - Jersey City, NJ
Must Skills : property and casualty (P&C), Agile/Scrum, Jira/Confluence, Snowflake/Cloud Data Platforms
Role Summary
We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Product Owner (DPM) to bridge the gap between US-based Insurance business stakeholders and a global engineering team. You will lead the Requirement Elaboration process, maintain an impeccable Technical/Functional Documentation library, and drive Agile Execution through high-quality Jira Story Writing. This is a "hands-on leadership" role requiring deep insurance domain knowledge and the ability to manage the functional lifecycle from a high-level roadmap down to the final UAT sign-off.
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirement Elaboration & Documentation
- Discovery & Synthesis: Lead deep-dive discovery sessions with underwriters, actuaries, and claims experts to extract complex business rules.
- Functional Specification: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), Process Flow Diagrams, and Data Mapping sheets.
- Knowledge Repository: Own the Confluence (or similar) space, ensuring documentation is version-controlled, searchable, and serves as a "Single Source of Truth" for both the client and the offshore dev team.
2. Jira Mastery & Story Writing
- Backlog Excellence: Transform the high-level roadmap into a granular, prioritized Product Backlog within Jira.
- User Story Crafting: Write "Ready-to-Dev" user stories using the INVEST principle. Each story must include:
- Clear Business Context & Value Statement.
- Detailed Functional Requirements.
- Robust Acceptance Criteria (AC) including "Happy Path" and "Edge Case" scenarios.
- Technical Mapping: Ensure Jira stories clearly define data source-to-target mappings and business logic for the Snowflake data platform.
3. Strategic Roadmap & Client Interaction
- Vision Ownership: Partner with the Client VP/SVP level to define and evolve the Insurance Product Roadmap.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Manage expectations regarding MVP (Minimum Viable Product) vs. future phases, ensuring technical debt and business value are balanced.
4. Agile Execution (Onshore-Offshore Model)
- Sprint Orchestration: Lead all Agile ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Refinement, Retrospectives) across time zones.
- Functional Triage: Act as the primary point of contact for the offshore team to resolve requirement ambiguities in real-time.
- UAT & Quality Assurance: Lead the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase. Partner with business users to validate features, manage defect triaging in Jira, and provide final functional sign-off before production releases.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Insurance Domain Mastery: 10 years of experience in P&C, Life, or Specialty Insurance. Deep understanding of policy lifecycles, claims processing, or insurance regulatory reporting.
- Agile Expert: Advanced proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies. You should be able to explain how you’ve scaled Agile in a global delivery model.
- Tool Expert: Power-user level skills in Jira and Confluence. Experience with visual modeling tools (Visio, Lucidchart, or Miro) for process mapping.
- Data Literacy: Sufficient technical depth to discuss Snowflake schemas, SQL logic, and API integrations with data engineers.
- Communication: Masterful ability to translate "Insurance Speak" into "Developer Speak."
