Job Summary
Vista Health System is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team. This position plays a vital role in supporting pharmacists by processing medication orders, preparing IV medications, maintaining inventory, and ensuring safe, accurate, and timely delivery of medications to patients and clinical staff. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to providing excellent service to patients, physicians, and nursing staff.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support to pharmacists in daily operations.
Process and prepare medications accurately for pharmacist review, including prescriptions, medication carts, and Pyxis restocking.
Safely and aseptically prepare IV medications, including chemotherapy, IVPBs, and TPNs.
Deliver medications promptly to nursing units and ancillary departments.
Maintain and restock floor stock, crash carts, and bulk medications according to policy.
Ensure proper inventory control, including rotating stock and removing expired medications.
Assist at the pharmacy counter by answering phones, entering orders, and providing excellent customer service.
Uphold confidentiality, patient safety, and Vista Health's Standards of Behavior, including responsiveness, communication, and teamwork.
Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: None required training provided.
Skills/Training: High school-level coursework in algebra, chemistry, or other physical science preferred.
Licensure: Must be eligible for licensure as a Pharmacy Technician by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.
Other Requirements:
Ability to work on-call or provide call-in support as needed.
Ability to travel between Vista Health sites if required.
Must be able to meet physical requirements including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Working Environment
Exposure to infectious or contagious diseases may occur.
May be required to wear protective equipment.
Ability to handle emergency or crisis situations.
Interaction with patients of all ages, physicians, nurses, and vendors on a daily basis.
