Primary Purpose
The Safety and Environmental Program Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and continuously improving safety and environmental programs across ADUSA and our local brands. This role creates and maintains training and program content focused on injury prevention, operational safety excellence, and compliance with OSHA and EPA requirements. The position partners closely with Environmental, Health & Safety Managers, brand leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to design written programs, implement training strategies, and support enterprise-wide rollout plans. The role directly owns and manages several core safety programs-including Hazard Communication/SDS, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Assessments, Job Hazard Analysis, Bloodborne Pathogens, and the Zone In Safety Awareness Program-and leads strategic initiatives that advance the EHS function.
Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Create, manage, develop, and update key safety programs such as Hazard Communication/SDS, PPE Assessments, Job Hazard Analysis, Bloodborne Pathogens, the ZoneIn Safety Awareness Program, and other assigned EHS programs
- Partner with cross-functional teams-including Safety, Risk Management, Environmental, Maintenance, Training, and Operations-to shape, improve, and deliver programs and training materials aligned to business priorities
- Develop and update written safety and environmental programs, processes, and training content aligned with OSHA and EPA requirements
- Provide leadership and oversight to the Specialist II, OSHA/ESG, ensuring data accuracy and elevating analytics into meaningful dashboards and decision-support tools for Safety and cross-functional partners
- Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for risk reduction and injury prevention; partner with Risk Management to ensure accuracy and insights in safety analytics
- Evaluate, design, and implement enhancements to existing safety and environmental programs to ensure consistency and regulatory alignment across the enterprise
- Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on associate safety, injury prevention, operational compliance, and overall program effectiveness
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across ADUSA Services and local brands to drive engagement, consistency, and successful program adoption
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety and environmental training content, written programs, and documentation standards
- Manage and track EHS team projects, compliance activities, serious injury investigations, regulatory inspections, and corrective actions
- Create and maintain the central repository of EHS documents, including ownership of SharePoint sites, shared drives, and databases
- Develop internal communications highlighting program updates, achievements, regulatory changes, and cost-saving initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals and uphold our Values
Basic Qualifications
- 5-7 years of project management and safety experience, preferably within retail or similar environments; strong knowledge of OSHA standards
- Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental science, project management/business, or related field
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple technical and regulatory projects and programs
- Proven ability to develop training content and facilitate cross-functional rollout
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft applications, Power BI, and other digital platforms used to manage and analyze safety data
- Knowledge of occupational safety and environmental laws and regulatory compliance requirements
- Understanding of retail and distribution center operations
- Strong decision-making capability using ethical judgment and sound reasoning
- Excellent influencing skills with the ability to engage and guide stakeholders without direct authority
- High degree of initiative, organization, and follow-through
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (e.g., MS in Safety, Environmental Management, Public Health, or related field)
- Professional safety certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHMM, CESCO, or OSHA 30/OSHA 500-level credentials
