PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Distribution Leaders of Tomorrow is a temporary training position designed to allow opportunity to cross-train in all departments throughout distribution and transportation. This includes training in areas that the distribution operation impacts and areas that support company strategies and initiatives. The training program transitions the trainee through learning modules in an effort to create a greater understanding of operational execution and enhance their ability to lead work groups. In addition to gaining valuable insights and understanding of distribution centers processes, procedures and standard practices; you will also be challenged through assessments, various course applications, leadership development programs and personal coaching as part of the program curriculum.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete all DLOT modules that provide a guide of the topics and knowledge needed to be a successful member of the distribution management team.
• Gain an understanding of our Labor Management System and how to properly schedule and manage distribution labor.
• Gain knowledge of PeopleSoft and understanding of PTO, occurrences, and vacation policies.
• Observe department staffing and make recommendations on adjustments where needed.
• Communicate effectively with distribution management team.
• Lead conversations (which include huddles and associate meetings) with distribution associates that include keeping them abreast of company issues and policies.
• Gain an understanding of new hire associate training and opportunities to improve the process. Communicate with new associates on a daily basis when they are present.
• Provide guidance and leadership to associates in an effort to make them productive members of the operation.
• Communicate that associates own and are accountable for the safety of themselves and others in the warehouse.
• Complete assessments at the end of each module obtaining a score of 80% or better which indicates the level of knowledge gained for that particular area is sufficient.
• Complete on a monthly basis the "DLOT Monthly Accomplishment Report" and distribute it accordingly.
• Participate in distribution leadership meetings and create dialog with other management team members.
• Develop a relationship and keep assigned mentors abreast of learning and concerns during training.
• Work with members of management dealing with associate issues.
• Observe, report and correct (when appropriate) all unsafe and unsanitary conditions that could cause associate and/or customer accidents.
• Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting their work group or distribution center that will maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and productive.
• Ensure compliance with ADUSA Distribution standards in the areas of accuracy, safety and productivity.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Pallet jack certified
• Forklift certified
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (i.e. cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial trucks)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Stand for long periods of time

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• High School Education
• Minimum of 6 months or more distribution experience
• Understanding of operational procedures in at least one or more areas of distribution operation.

• Excellent customer service, communication, verbal and written skills
• Ability to travel and work at various locations as part of learning assignments
• Ability to meet production standards set by the company
• Ability to read and understand written and numeric product identifiers
• Ability to coach, communicate, develop, and train others.
• Ability to be a good distribution citizen and supports leadership decisions
• Highly motivated self-starter and team player with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple task in a fast paced environment
• Demonstrate effective and successful leadership skills
• Motivated and takes initiative to seek out and gain knowledge of processes that he/she are unfamiliar with
• Willing to work in a diverse fast paced changing environment
• Willing to work varying schedules in conjunction with learning assignments (24 - 7) for periods of time.
