The HSE Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental programs at Ahlstrom’s De Pere, Wisconsin site. The HSE Specialist will work closely with all areas of the mill to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and promote continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental performance.

Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve HSE programs and procedures in alignment with company policies, OSHA standards, and environmental regulations.
- Lead and manage mill-wide projects related to health, safety, and environmental initiatives.
- Ensure full compliance with environmental requirements, including obtaining regulatory permits and licenses.
- Prepare, analyze, and submit required monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual regulatory reports.
- Provide environmental guidance and oversight for capital projects and new chemical reviews.
- Partner with corporate environmental and sustainability groups to execute global initiatives and report ESG metrics.
- Collect, assess, and interpret environmental performance data to drive continuous improvement.
- Act as primary liaison with environmental agencies, regulators, and community stakeholders.
- Provide strategic support and consultation to the leadership team on safety compliance, accountability, and team member engagement.
- Design, develop, and deliver HSE training to ensure understanding and adoption across all levels of the organization.
- Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Communicate post-incident and near-miss findings through clear written reports and leadership briefings.
- Champion Ahlstrom’s manufacturing and hygiene standards to maintain the highest levels of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Experience in a related position
- Ability to interact with a wide range of team members
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
