What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internship/Co-op/Apprenticeship Opportunity position at Ahaus Tool & Engineering?
Description
Are you a high school or college student looking for an opportunity to expand your knowledge and get real world experience and opportunity within the workforce? At Ahaus, we understand the importance of investing in the next generation of talent and are looking for driven students that have the desire to learn and grow in our industry. Have a strong work ethic but don't know much about our trade? We can help with that.
For over 79 years, Ahaus Tool & Engineering has been offering customers high-quality solutions to challenging manufacturing, tooling, and automation equipment needs. We've grown from a small tooling shop in a backyard here in Richmond, Indiana to a $29M tooling, engineering and custom automation firm. Throughout that growth though, we've never lost our small business feel, where our leaders truly care about the people working for them and it shows. Have you ever wondered what it's like to work at a place where company culture is really important? Well, at Ahaus, it's the lens through which we view everything we do.
In addition to great wages and benefits, we offer a supportive, family-first work environment that you won't find anywhere else. The average tenure of our phenomenal team of 110 talented individuals is 10 years, and we've got several folks who have been with us for 40 years and counting- we believe that in itself speaks volumes. We couldn't be prouder of our team.
Ahaus is well known for flexible start times Monday through Friday, generous paid time off, paid holidays, employee recognition and incentives, volunteer and outreach events, employee breakfasts and barbeques, pitch-ins, summer games, company outings, shared hobbies, and many other perks. It's precisely why Ahaus enjoys a reputation as a place people want to be.
Let's talk details on our co-op, internship, and apprenticeship opportunities:
For high school students - Are you looking for a work-based learning opportunity that could be the foundation for your career? We offer Co-op opportunities that allow you to work when you are able throughout your school day and/or after school.
Are you a high school graduate or current college student? We offer internship opportunities. Internships are part-time gigs, typically temporary, over the course of the summer or a semester.
Regardless of whether you're here for a co-op or an internship, your area of focus is often related to your academic field of study or your career interests. This is practical experience within a professional setting that gives insight into company culture, daily operations, and sometimes assists with specific competencies needed for a degree or the entry requirements for the apprenticeship program. The added plus- they're all paid positions. Gain experience, identify what you like (and you don't like) with a hands-on introduction to the duties and daily operations of the trade, and get paid to do it all. If you enjoy your internship, this might indicate that your career is on the right path.
Then what?
Let's Talk About Our Ahaus Apprenticeship Program
Ahaus apprenticeship opportunities were born back in 1979 and are now a Registered Apprenticeship Program that is credentialed through the US Department of Labor. That means that when individuals successfully complete our program, they receive a national credential that is recognized anywhere in the industry. Our apprenticeship is an employer-driven training model for aspiring tradespeople. We provide on-the-job learning from experienced mentors and related classroom instruction on the technical and academic aspects of the job. Our training is rooted in industry skill standards and competencies- it's the real deal.
At Ahaus, our Apprentices earn a paycheck and full-time status as soon as the begin their official apprenticeship, so they are earning while they build their skills and knowledge. Apprentices also earn progressively higher wages as their skills develop, alongside added benefits such as flexible scheduling, a comprehensive benefits package (i.e. insurance), a college scholarship (including tuition, books and fees for an associate's degree), PTO, and holiday pay, among many other perks.
