Position Overview
Seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated Accounting Specialist to own the general ledger, month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and job costing. Working closely with the Controller and the AP and AR Managers, this role keeps our records accurate and reporting timely, so leadership has the visibility to make better decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify areas of improvement within the technology stack and lead updates along with the Financial Controller
- Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries and supporting balance-sheet schedules.
- Reconcile all bank, credit card, loan, and line-of-credit accounts monthly.
- Reconcile A/P and A/R subledgers, payroll liability, and tax accounts to the GL and flag differences to each manager.
- Review GL and job-cost detail for miscoded entries. Reclass costs to the correct job, phase, or class.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports from primary Accounting System.
- Prepare monthly WIP schedules with participation from the Project Managers and Financial Controller.
- Prepare support for annual reviews, tax returns, and insurance audits. Support payroll and sales/use tax filings.
- Maintain organized records and follow internal controls, including segregation of duties.
- Identify areas of improvement within the technology stack and lead updates along with the Financial Controller.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in accounting/business or equivalent
- 2 years hands-on accounting (general ledger, reconciliations, month-end close)
- Construction industry experience (job costing, progress billing, retainage)
- Experience with cloud-based Accounting Systems and integrated platforms
