What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Board Counsel (Attorney, Supervisor) position at Agricultural Labor Relations Board?
In the role of Chief Board Counsel, the Attorney Supervisor serves as the Board’s leading subject matter expert on legal issues facing the Board. The incumbent serves as the Board Counsel to the Chair and as the supervisor of administrative professionals and attorneys. The incumbent will serve as the lead legal advisor on Board case matters, as well as State of California (State) and Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB) policy as needed. The Chief Board Counsel serves as the Board’s primary liaison with the legal staff of the Labor and Workforce Development Agency, the Governor’s Office and the California Department of Justice. The incumbent shall also have primary responsibility for the review and oversight of proposed legislation impacting the ALRB. The Chief Board Counsel also manages and leads development of rulemaking packages promulgated by the Board. The incumbent develops strategy and tactics in the most complex disputes or litigation; and may personally perform the most difficult and complex hearings, legal research, and opinion drafting for the ALRB.
Qualifications
Must be certified to practice law in California. Eight years of legal experience in the practice of law; two years of which must have been at a level equivalent to an Attorney IV or Supervising Attorney or three years of which must have been at a level equivalent to an Attorney III.
