Position Overview
As a key member of the Accounting team, you will be part of AgriBank's mission to support the people who feed the world. The Manager, Loan Accounting leads the loan accounting team, which performs the functions of wholesale loan accounting, retail loan accounting and reconciliations. This position also supports other activities of the Accounting and Planning team, such as accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger account reconciliations, accounting for investment securities, prepaid and accrual accounting.
Job Functions*
Accounting & Planning Preparation
Accounting Support:
- Ensures wholesale and retail loan activity is posted within guidelines and researches transactions as needed
- Ensures asset pool activity and related reports are performed in accordance with procedures
- Approves entries submitted by other team members
- Approves wires as submitted to wire system
- Supports Accounting and Planning team with accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger account reconciliations, investment securities, prepaid and accrual accounting
Account Reconciliation & Approvals:
- Reconciles significant and/or complex accounts
- Reviews journal entries for significant and /or complex processes
- Approves assigned reconciliations
- Analytical review of financial activity prior to close of monthly results
- Review data for accuracy and make appropriate corrections to general ledger as needed
- Provide constructive feedback and actively coach team members to enhance completeness, accuracy and efficient preparation of financial reporting deliverables
- Perform department quality control reviews, as needed, and communicates suggested changes
Project and Process Improvements
- Participates in strategic project teams
- Leads Bank and District-wide project teams
- Participates in Bank and District-wide project teams
- Reviews processes and recommends improvements
- Leads process improvement efforts as subject matter expert (SME)
- Implements improvements and documents new or revised procedures
- Communicates process changes to stakeholders
Staff Supervision & Support
- Manages the loan accounting team, providing proactive coaching, development, and performance feedback to team members to enhance completeness, accuracy, and efficient preparation of financial reporting deliverables
- Selects, evaluates, trains, and motivates team members
- Lead development discussions to identify gaps in skills, areas of growth and team member engagement opportunities
- Assigns work and provides work guidance and direction
- Communicates and implements performance standards
- Participates in development of cost center budget
- Assesses results of development discussions to identify gaps and opportunities for sufficient career pathing, back-ups and bench strength across the team
Report Model Maintenance
- Approves design and oversees operational effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting
Accounting & Planning Strategy
- Implements Accounting & Planning long-term strategy
- Participates in strategic discussions within Controller group leadership team
Accounting & Planning Coordination
- Manages contract review and approval of key vendors supporting accounting & planning processes and deliverables
- Coordinates, performs, and participates in training plan for new/promoted team members and new/revised processes, as needed
- Performs and participates in training for new/promoted team members and new/revised processes, as needed
- Approves product offerings and client pricing
- Recommends and implements product offerings and client pricing
- Reviews and approves reporting calendar and daily/weekly/monthly tasks to ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and appropriate distribution of workload
- Reviews requested deliverables from Bank departments, auditors and other third parties
Relationship Management
- Responds to client requests via District Self Service tool, email, or phone
- Resolves client questions, concerns, and communicates resolution in a timely manner
- Assists clients in resolutions of accounting issues by completing research and recommending solutions

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
- 5 years of public accounting experience, or 9 years’ of related experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
Knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Advanced knowledge of accounting including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets
- Advanced knowledge of loan accounting, cash operations, general ledger practices
- Advanced knowledge of internal controls
- Intermediate knowledge of financial reporting standards and processes
- Intermediate knowledge of Farm Credit Administration reporting regulations and requirements
- Intermediate knowledge of project coordination principles and practices
Skills
- Advanced proficiency in office software Microsoft Office Suite
- Advanced proficiency in general ledger/accounts payable/loan accounting systems
- Advanced proficiency in reconciliation systems
- Advanced proficiency in enterprise performance management (e.g., EPM)
- Advanced proficiency in expense/invoice management systems
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

The typical base range for this role is between $106,000 - $165,000. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
