We have partnered with a leading agricultural grain processing organization in Colorado to identify an experienced and motivated Assistant Controller who will support—and ultimately succeed—the current Controller.

You’ll begin by mastering grain accounting and the company’s ERP workflows before expanding into full financial accounting responsibilities, including future oversight of payroll, benefits administration, and other key functions.

Key Responsibilities
- Learn and execute grain accounting processes, including contracts, settlements, inventory management, and ERP system workflows.
- Assist with general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Support the monthly and annual close processes with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Participate in audit preparation and coordination.
- Collaborate daily with remote accounting team members and cross-functional staff, including grain operations and merchandising teams.
- Identify and help implement process improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Grow into expanded responsibilities over time, including payroll and benefits administration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred, not required).
- 5 years of financial accounting experience with strong foundational accounting skills.
- Highly proficient in Excel and capable of working within a complex ERP environment (experience beyond QuickBooks is essential).
- Strong problem-solving abilities; a self-starter with initiative, determination, and a love of learning.
- Ability to thrive in a smaller, multi-location company with a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
- Comfortable working with both accounting and non-accounting functions.
