Summary:
River Point Farms is seeking a collaborative and reliable Quality Assurance Grader to join their Fresh Pack team. This position will become a qualified expert on onion inspections according to technically written federal and state standards. The Quality Assurance Grader is trained in an on-the-job setting by experienced senior inspectors and supervisory personnel until such time the individual is a capable examiner of onion quality.
Responsibilities:
- Prior to start of shift, communicate with QA supervisor for assignments and special work instructions.
- Determine representative sample of onions presented for inspection according to federal or state guidelines.
- Draw samples of onions to be inspected from containers, trucks or storage.
- Apply grading factors through the use of scales, sizing rings, knife, and other equipment in the inspection of onions for fresh shipment or for processing according to established federal and/or state standards, export requirements or purchase contracts (size, maturity, shape, color, variety, etc.)
- Record notes and write certificates of grade or inspection reports with all pertinent information on the kind of product, variety, brand, manifest, car or truck number, container size, etc. Ensure certificates are legible and admissible as evidence in U.S. and Oregon courts or law.
- Coordinate aides in sample selection and other duties.
- Champion Food Safety best practices, safety and report any observances that are not in line with standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent. Previous related experience desired.
- Basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Computer competency with data entry and word processing.
- Effective time management, attention to detail, and decision-making skills.
- Good interpersonal skills. Be able to effectively communicate to all personnel including management.
- Adherence to all PPE requirements as well as facility safety rules and regulations.
- Be able to meet the physical requirements of the role: work involves but is not limited to heavy lifting, bending, kneeling and twisting throughout work period.Stepping up, stepping down and kneeling required.Occasional long-term walking required.Wrist, hand, and finger movement that encompasses squeezing, rotating, and bending.Arm movement encompasses extension, raising and bending.Neck movement encompasses raising, rotating, forward, backward, and side to side.
