Summary:
River Point Farms is seeking a Boiler / Refrigeration Technician to be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of boiler, refrigeration, HVAC, and compressed air systems. The Technician ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all equipment in accordance with state and federal regulations, and supports production and facilities teams to maintain optimal system performance.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair boiler systems, refrigeration units, HVAC systems, compressed air equipment, and IQFÂ (Individually Quick Frozen) systems including freeze tunnels.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using specialized tools and techniques.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting system components.
- Replace or repair defective parts such as valves, motors, pumps, compressors, and electrical controls.
- Adjust system controls (e.g., thermostats, pressure gauges, fans) to optimize performance and energy efficiency.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and parts usage.
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and P&IDs to guide installations and repairs.
- Respond to emergency repair requests and troubleshoot urgent system failures.
- Collaborate with other technicians and departments to ensure system reliability and uptime.
- Assist with production maintenance and facility support as needed.
- Stay current with industry standards, safety protocols, and emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a technical program, apprenticeship, or community college course in HVAC, boiler technology, refrigeration, or industrial maintenance required or 5 years of progressive refrigeration experience and working towards obtaining an EPA Section 608 certification and a RETA certification.
- RETA/CIRO/CARO certification or other relevant refrigeration credentials preferred.
- Proficient in installation, maintenance, and repair of boiler, refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air, and IQF systems.
- Skilled in trouble-shooting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues using specialized tools and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
- Familiarity with system controls such as thermostats, pressure gauges, and fan settings.
- Knowledge of applicable safety codes, regulations, and best practices for boiler and refrigeration systems.
- Experience maintaining accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
- Ability to respond to emergency repair requests and work under pressure.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain).
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong demonstrated communication and collaboration skills with ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
