Aging Services, Inc. (ASI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting older
adults through programs that promote independence, dignity, and quality of life. ASI is
funded through a mix of federal and state contracts, private donations, individual and
community fundraising, and local partnerships. We are seeking a detail-oriented,
mission-driven accountant to help steward our resources with accuracy, transparency,
and care.
Position Summary:
The Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of Aging Services,
Inc., including general accounting, grant management, financial reporting, and support
for budgeting and audit activities. This position ensures accurate recording of financial
activity, maintains compliance with federal and state funding requirements, and provides
clear financial reporting to agency leadership, board members, and grantor agencies.
The Accountant works closely with program management and reports directly to the
Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting
Perform daily and monthly accounting functions, including general ledger
management, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and cash reporting.
Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and
nonprofit accounting standards.
Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting.
Maintain accurate records supporting financial transactions, documentation, and
audit trails.
Coordinate and support the annual independent audit and Form 990 preparation.
Grant & Contract Management:
Track monthly and annual expenditures for all federal, state, and other grant-
funded programs.
Prepare grant reimbursement requests and financial reports in accordance with
funding agency requirements.
Monitor allowable costs, budget limitations, and grant compliance regulations.
Collaborate with program staff to ensure accurate coding of expenses and timely
contract reporting.
Assist with grant budget development and renewal processes.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and procedures.
Maintain secure and organized financial records in accordance with retention
guidelines.
Identify opportunities to strengthen processes, increase accuracy, and improve
operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Required:
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related
discipline.
Minimum of 2–4 years of professional accounting experience.
Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
Experience with grant-funded or governmental financial reporting.
High level of proficiency with accounting software and Excel.
Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related
discipline.
Experience in nonprofit organizations or government-funded programs.
Familiarity with federal and state grant regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance).
Experience supporting financial audits.
Experience with QuickBooks Online.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk while working on a computer.
Manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination for keyboarding, data entry, and
handling paperwork.
Sufficient visual acuity to review computer screens, financial documents, and
spreadsheets with accuracy and detail.
Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move items up to 15 pounds (e.g., files,
records, office supplies).
Ability to safely navigate a standard office environment, including use of phones,
computers, and office equipment.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
