We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Development and Donor Director to join our team. This pivotal role supports our mission to serve seniors with dignity and care by leading all aspects of fund development, donor relations, and community engagement. The Director will design and implement fundraising strategies, cultivate major gifts, manage donor communications, and lead capital campaigns and state appropriation efforts that strengthen and expand our programs while securing the organization’s long-term financial sustainability.
The ideal candidate will bring strong strategic, organizational, and relationship-building skills, along with a collaborative spirit and a passion for connecting people to purpose. Working closely with the President/CEO, Board of Directors, and community partners, the Development and Donor Director will help advance Aging Matters in Brevard’s mission to promote independence, dignity, and quality of life for older adults throughout Brevard County.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Fund Development and Donor Relations
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy to achieve annual revenue goals, including monthly general donation target.
- Lead all fundraising activities - including major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, events, and direct mail campaigns - ensuring alignment with the agency’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships to grow philanthropic investment and donor retention.
- Oversee donor communications, appeals, and recognition programs, ensuring consistency, mission-driven messaging and brand integrity.
- Maintain the donor database and ensure accurate reporting, data management, and performance tracking.
- Collaborate with Leadership and the Board to engage key stakeholders in fundraising initiatives and donor cultivation.
Capital Campaign and Major Initiatives
- Plan, launch, and manage Capital Campaigns and high impact donors, overseeing all phases from feasibility through completion.
- Develop the campaign case for support, donor materials, and recognition opportunities in partnership with program directors, leadership, and volunteers.
- Coordinate the Development Committee, Board members, and CEO to secure major commitments and achieve fundraising milestones.
- Partner with the CEO and Board to implement a planned giving and endowment growth strategy to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
Communications and External Relations
- Lead the creation of compelling donor and community communications, including newsletters, impact stories, and the Annual Report.
- Representing Aging Matters in Brevard at public events, community meetings, and media opportunities to promote visibility and donor engagement.
- Serve as a liaison with key stakeholders - including patrons, legislators, vendors, and community partners - to strengthen support for the agency’s mission.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment between programs and fundraising efforts.
Board and Committee Engagement
- Partner with the Board’s Resource Development Committee to identify prospects, engage donors, and expand philanthropic networks.
- Provide regular reports, data insights, and progress updates to the CEO and Board.
- Offer training and support to Board members and volunteers to enhance their effectiveness in donor cultivation and solicitation.
Financial and Budget Management
- Develop and manage the fundraising and communications budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Collaborate with the CFO and CEO to forecast fundraising revenue and evaluate the ROI of campaigns and initiatives.
- Seek approval for new fundraising or marketing projects requiring agency investment.
- Assist with seeking, writing and submitting grant proposals and applications to secure funding from various sources in conjunction with other key leaders and/or volunteers.
Marketing and Communications
- Advance the agency’s visibility by developing and implementing strategic marketing and communication initiatives.
- Draft and review press releases, manage media relations, and maintain key press and community contacts.
- Oversee content development for the website, social media, and digital platforms to ensure timely and engaging storytelling.
- Plan and execute integrated print, digital, and broadcast campaigns that promote Aging Matters in Brevard’s mission and impact.
- Collaborate with leadership to strengthen the agency’s brand identity and ensure consistent, mission-aligned messaging across all channels.
- Identify and coordinate opportunities for public speaking, media appearances, and community engagement.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree is required, in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
- Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE), Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy CAP® or CSPG preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of progressive fundraising experience, including major gifts and capital campaign leadership.
- Three (3) or more years of experience with marketing and social media experience is preferred.

- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

- High integrity, discretion, and professionalism in donor interactions.
- Ability to travel to and attend various community events, some being outside of regular business hours.
- A valid driver’s license and active auto insurance.
Risk Exposure
Low to Moderate Risk
Position involves limited physical risk. Some local travel and event attendance required, occasionally outside normal business hours. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
Working Environment
Work is primarily performed indoors in an office setting.
Occasional off-site meetings, donor visits, and community events required.
Work hours may vary to accommodate events, campaigns, and donor schedules.
Physical Requirements

Emergency Disaster Assistance
As part of the agency’s obligation, all employees may be required to be available before, during, and after a disaster. Assignments will be issued in accordance with directives from the Senior Resource Alliance, Brevard County Government, and agency Administration.
