We are seeking a Compliance Consultant for a contract-to-hire opportunity with a leading financial institution. In this highly visible role, you'll partner with business leaders, risk teams, and stakeholders across the organization to help ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risk, and support a strong Compliance Management System (CMS).

What You'll Be Doing

As a Compliance Consultant, you will serve as a trusted advisor on regulatory and compliance matters, helping the organization maintain strong controls and meet regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Analyze compliance-related data, reports, and processes to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.

✅ Provide guidance on regulatory requirements, bank policies, risk assessments, issue management, and compliance best practices.

✅ Partner with cross-functional teams and all lines of defense to support compliance initiatives and regulatory commitments.

✅ Identify root causes of compliance concerns and recommend practical solutions to strengthen controls and reduce risk.

✅ Monitor remediation efforts and corrective action plans to ensure compliance issues are effectively resolved.

✅ Evaluate the effectiveness of compliance controls and recommend enhancements where needed.

✅ Prepare clear, concise reports and communicate findings to management, business leaders, and risk committees.

✅ Support regulatory examinations, policy reviews, monitoring activities, and ongoing compliance program improvements.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

✔ 2 years of experience in Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, or a related financial services environment.

✔ High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field preferred.

✔ Working knowledge of consumer lending and mortgage compliance regulations, including:

• TILA
• RESPA
• ECOA
• FCRA
• HPA
• FDPA

✔ Understanding of agency and regulatory requirements from organizations such as:

• FNMA
• FHLMC
• FHA
• VA
• USDA
• FRB
• CFPB

✔ Experience reviewing policies, procedures, controls, and loan documentation for compliance adherence.

✔ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.

✔ Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

✔ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings to leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

⭐ Experience supporting residential mortgage lending operations, including retail and correspondent channels.

⭐ Knowledge of specialized mortgage products such as ARM, DSCR, Interest-Only, HELOC, and HEL programs.

⭐ Wholesale lending compliance experience is a strong plus.

⭐ Experience with regulatory change management, issue management, and compliance monitoring programs.
