What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Event Production position at Agency 3-2, LLC?
Agency 3-2 is an emerging creative and experiential marketing agency operating at the forefront of sports, culture and retail. We partner with leading brands to create culturally relevant experiences, activations and campaigns that authentically connect with consumers.
As the agency continues to grow, we are looking for a highly experienced Director of Production to build, lead and oversee our production department.
The Director of Production will take complete ownership of production across Agency 3-2. This person will oversee the agency’s full portfolio of projects, manage a network of approximately 5–15 producers and ensure every project is delivered at the level of quality our agency and clients expect.
A primary objective of this role is to remove the CEO from the day-to-day details of production. The Director of Production must be able to confidently lead the department, identify potential issues before they become problems and provide the structure, accountability and support needed to keep projects moving forward.
This is not a role for someone who simply monitors timelines. We are looking for an experienced production leader who can see the full picture, think several steps ahead, solve problems quickly and help producers deliver exceptional work.
- Oversee all production activity across Agency 3-2, from initial project kickoff through execution, reconciliation and closeout.
- Maintain a complete understanding of every active project, including scope, timeline, budget, staffing, client expectations, risks and next steps.
- Manage and provide leadership to approximately 5–15 producers working across multiple projects, markets and clients.
- Conduct regular project check-ins with producers to review progress, priorities, deadlines, risks and outstanding deliverables.
- Provide clear reminders, direction and accountability to ensure projects remain on schedule and meet Agency 3-2’s standards.
- Review key production documents, plans and deliverables to confirm that work is complete, accurate and client-ready.
- Ensure producers follow Agency 3-2’s established procedures, workflows, approval processes and communication standards.
- Create clarity around ownership and ensure every project has the appropriate leadership, staffing and support.
- Ensure client expectations are clearly understood, properly communicated and consistently met.
- Maintain a high level of quality control across all agency work.
- Identify potential challenges early and work with producers to develop effective solutions.
- Serve as the senior production escalation point when projects encounter budget, timeline, vendor, staffing or execution challenges.
- Ensure producers communicate proactively with internal teams and clients rather than reacting after issues occur.
- Help teams balance creative ambition with budget, timing, feasibility and operational realities.
- Confirm that project teams are delivering experiences that meet both the creative vision and the practical requirements of the client.
- Own and maintain the agency-wide production calendar.
- Track project timelines, travel, installation dates, event dates, staffing needs and overlapping deadlines across the agency.
- Anticipate staffing gaps and determine how existing producers and resources can be deployed across multiple projects.
- Work closely with the Chief of Staff to identify hiring needs and ensure the agency has the appropriate production resources in place.
- Assist with interviewing, evaluating and hiring full-time employees, freelance producers and other production talent.
- Help onboard new producers and ensure they understand Agency 3-2’s processes, expectations and quality standards.
- Build a strong and dependable bench of production talent that can support the agency as it continues to grow.
- Partner closely with the Chief of Staff to strengthen and improve procedures throughout the agency.
- Identify inefficiencies, communication gaps and recurring production challenges.
- Develop systems, templates and processes that create greater consistency, accountability and visibility across projects.
- Help establish scalable production standards that can support a fast-growing agency.
- Ensure lessons learned from one project are documented and applied to future work.
- Support a collaborative culture where producers feel guided, challenged and equipped to do their best work.
- Remove the CEO from unnecessary involvement in the day-to-day management of production.
- Provide the CEO with clear, high-level visibility into project status, major decisions, risks and areas requiring executive input.
- Independently resolve production challenges whenever possible and escalate only when appropriate.
- Protect the CEO’s time by ensuring production teams are aligned, prepared and operating with ownership.
- Significant experience leading experiential, event, retail or creative production for major brands.
- Previous experience working with Nike, Jordan Brand, Foot Locker, Hibbett or comparable sports, footwear, lifestyle or retail brands is required.
- Strong familiarity with the creative development and approval processes used by major sports and retail brands.
- Experience overseeing multiple producers and complex projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to manage fast-moving experiential projects from concept through execution.
- Strong understanding of production timelines, budgets, vendor management, fabrication, staffing, permitting, logistics, installations and live event execution.
- Proven ability to identify problems early and make confident, practical decisions under pressure.
- Experience developing and implementing production procedures and operational systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization and people-management skills.
- Ability to hold teams accountable while remaining supportive, collaborative and solutions-oriented.
- Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, startup-style agency environment where responsibilities may evolve.
- Willingness to think creatively, work outside of traditional structures and find resourceful solutions.
- Ability to travel and work outside standard business hours when required by project schedules.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned production leader who understands both the creative and operational sides of experiential marketing. They are calm under pressure, highly organized and comfortable overseeing many moving pieces at once.
They do not wait for problems to be brought to them. They ask the right questions, anticipate what will be needed and make sure the team is prepared before challenges arise.
This person must be excited to join a growing agency and help build the systems, team and production culture required for the next stage of Agency 3-2’s growth. They should be comfortable operating in an environment where creativity, flexibility and resourcefulness are essential.
- This is a full-time, salaried employee position.
- Agency 3-2 is not seeking freelance or part-time candidates for this role.
- Candidates located in Miami are strongly preferred.
- Candidates who are open to relocating to Miami will also be considered.
- Regular travel may be required based on client and project needs.
