SKID STEER OPERATOR

Contract Minimum: 4 Weeks

Contract Maximum: 8 weeks

WAGE DETERMINATION: BASED ON EXPERIENCE (Davis Bacon Non Union)

WORKING DAYS: M-F (8 HR DAYS)

Project location: N Bush Hwy Mesa AZ , Recreation site.

Project duration: 12/2025 - 04/2026

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Skid Steer Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment, particularly skid steers, and possess a strong understanding of construction site operations. This role involves working on various projects that require precise maneuvering and operation of heavy machinery to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Operate skid steer loaders safely and efficiently across multiple construction sites.
  • Perform tasks such as loading, unloading, digging, grading, and material handling using heavy equipment like excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks.
  • Assist with site preparation, excavation, grading, paving, and other construction activities requiring heavy equipment operation.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs.
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and within scope.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work areas.

Skills

  • Mechanical knowledge related to heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience operating skid steers and other heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, tankers, horizontal drills, and paving machinery.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety procedures.
  • Commercial driving (CDL) experience preferred for operating trucks related to construction projects.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar, Case, John Deere equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and interpret project plans.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to operate machinery for extended periods in various weather conditions. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects within the construction industry while utilizing your heavy equipment expertise in a dynamic environment.

Working Conditions

Operators typically work outdoors on active construction sites. The role may require early morning, evening, or weekend shifts, depending on project deadlines. The position involves exposure to noise, dust, and varying weather conditions, and requires adherence to strict safety standards.

Physical Demands

· Frequent standing, walking, and climbing in and out of equipment.

· Ability to lift and carry materials and tools as needed (up to 50 lbs).

· Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate controls and monitor surroundings.

Reporting Structure

Operator reports to the Site Supervisor OR Superintendent.

Job Types: Contract, Temporary

Pay: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
