What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overnight Shelter Staff position at Agape Village?
Job Overview
To help operate overnight shelter for up to 100 guests ensuring all guests maintain rules, the shelter is safe, people are able to sleep, and the building/community is respected.
Responsibilities
- Refer guests who are ready for more support and services to case manager.
- Check guests in using Mission Tracker software and making sure to collect all required information.
- Set out mats for guests; supervise the line outside the building, admit guests into the building.
- Prep food and coffee; clean the bathrooms (including toilets), vacuum, and other cleaning responsibilities
- Speak to shelter guests and coworkers in a kind and respectful manner
- Distribute blankets, explain the guidelines, supervise the area throughout the night, walk through the room regularly to ensure everyone is safe
- Enforce all shelter rules and policies according to shelter procedures.
- Attend all required trainings.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
Requirements
- Agree with the mission and values of Agape Village
- Is willing to hold people accountable.
- Is able to set and maintain healthy boundaries with participants and staff.
- If in recovery - A minimum 12 months of sobriety.
- Will have to submit to regular drug tests.
- Is teachable and willing to learn new skills.
