About Us:

Against All Oddz is an animal sanctuary, rescue, and a legal-based animal advocacy resource center. The two core tenets of Against All Oddz are the sanctity of life and the power of redemption. We are dedicated to providing a safe and loving environment for dogs in need, particularly those with behavioral challenges. Our mission is to rehabilitate and rehome dogs, giving them a second chance at life. We believe that every dog deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we are seeking a passionate Dog Trainer to join our team and help us achieve this goal.

Against All Oddz was founded in 2015 as a 501c3 New York state registered not-for-profit agency. Its sanctuary sits on 50 acres of land in Darien Center, NY. On our sanctuary we have structures to rescue and rehabilitate animals. With the legal background of our founder and volunteers, Against All Oddz’s niche and focus is dogs ensnared in the legal system and providing those animals with both legal representation and rehabilitative assistance. Against All Oddz is the first of its kind in the United States to have such a holistic approach to dealing with court case dogs. We also assist other animal rescues that don’t have the resources or knowledge to help animals with behavioral or medical issues. We take in the animals that have nowhere else to go. We provide a humane alternative to euthanasia, and we believe that every animal deserves a second chance. Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced Dog Trainer who specializes in working with dogs exhibiting behavioral issues. Candidates should have a deep understanding of canine behavior and training techniques, as well as a compassionate approach to working with animals. You will be responsible for assessing each dog's individual needs, developing tailored training programs, and implementing effective training strategies to help them overcome their challenges. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have a strong background in nonprofit management, animal welfare, and operational excellence. They will also have excellent communication skills and a friendly, positive, and approachable demeanor, with a passion for making a difference in the lives of animals.

Key Responsibilities:

- Educate potential adopters about dog behavior and training needs.

- Collaborate with veterinarians and behaviorists as necessary to ensure the well-being of each dog.

- Participate in community outreach and training workshops to promote responsible pet ownership.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a dog trainer, preferably in a rescue or shelter environment.

- Strong knowledge of canine behavior and training methodologies.

- Certification from a recognized dog training organization is required.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work effectively with a diverse team and foster a positive environment.

- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for dogs, especially those with behavioral issues.

- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.

- Must be physically fit and able to walk dogs for extended periods, as well as lift bags of dog food.

- Must have experience handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, temperaments, behavioral and medical needs, and backgrounds.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.

- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of managing multiple priorities.

- Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to the mission of Against All Oddz Animal Alliance.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok).

What We Offer:

- A meaningful opportunity to lead and make a significant impact in the lives of animals.

- A collaborative and supportive work environment with a passionate team.
