CEO / General Manager– Agland Cooperative – Wolf Point, Montana

Ag1Source has partnered with the Agland Cooperative Board of Directors to identify the cooperative’s next General Manager.

Agland Cooperative has a strong financial foundation and customer base, built on its success in bulk fuels, retail energy, Farm Stores, Automotive Services, and Agronomy LLC. The cooperative has invested in its facilities and equipment to maintain a strong presence in its communities and continue to meet the changing needs of its patrons. They are therefore seeking a leader with the ability to leverage those investments to continue their track record of success in the region and guide the cooperative into its next chapter of success.

Qualified candidates should bring successful business management and leadership experience within the retail cooperative system or a closely related environment. Because Agland Cooperative plays an important role in the communities it serves, the successful candidate will be expected to live within the cooperative’s trade area and become an engaged, visible member of communities and programs in the region.

Primary Responsibilities

• Partner with the Board of Directors to establish strategic direction and expectations, then create the organizational goals and system of accountability to exceed those expectations
• Oversee the growth of Agland and play an active role on the board of Ag Partners Agronomy LLC
• Manage the organization to maximize return for the members/patrons
• Provide effective communication at all organizational levels, including board guidance, leadership team, employees, business partnerships, community, and any related government or regulatory agencies
• Relate to rural members with a high level of integrity and trust
• Recruit, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team

Key Requirements

• This position requires strong financial acumen, leading a great team of department leaders and employees, and providing the organization with industry foresight to keep it moving forward
• Ten-plus years of Cooperative leadership, rural business leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• A strong track record of performance in P&L management and departmental budgeting while serving in a leadership capacity

Additional Insight

• This position reports to a seven-member Board of Directors and is supported by a great team of proven employees
• The position is based at the main office in Wolf Point, Montana.
• A key component of this position is community involvement, so this position requires the General Manager to live within a commutable distance to the Wolf Point office.
