What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Writer position at Ag-Power, Inc.?
Assist the service manager in maintaining accurate and on-time reports and records relative to the service department’s operation within the dealership.
Responsibilities:
- Communicates with customers regarding their service needs in order to proactively assure clearly communicated expectations. Includes intake of work, job quotes, and contact regarding changes in pricing and/or additional work required. Assures clearly communicated expectations with no surprises.
- Assist in service-related customer satisfaction. Keeps the Service Manager informed of all issues and escalates them as appropriate.
- Coordinates schedules and prioritizes service work to meet established goals and maximize shop productivity. Includes customer and internal labor, both shop and field.
- Prospects and sells service jobs, including repairs, maintenance and preventive or scheduled maintenance programs. Sells and upsells additional work whenever appropriate.
- Assures margin goals are met for outside labor and materials, and recovery goals are met for service accessories and vehicles.
- Maintains management reports necessary to audit the performance of the service department and individual employees, on a monthly basis.
- Reviews work orders for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure that all warranty claims are complete and accurate, and are submitted on a timely basis.
- Ensures that Product Improvement Programs are completed on a timely basis.
- Evaluates on a monthly audit basis, the performance of the Branch Service Department, and employees, through general observations and use of the Service Management System Labor reports.
- Ensures that necessary Service Department special tools and service equipment are available and maintained in good order.
- Communicates and works closely with the Location Service Manager to execute company and branch initiatives, and to resolve issues.
- Other/additional responsibilities and tasks as directed by location and/or senior management.
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of accounting practices
- Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
- Knowledge of office procedures
- General understanding of mechanical/technical terms is preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
