Responsibilities
Performs general construction and maintenance of farm equipment, structures, and grounds, including, but not limited to:
- Fences, stalls, barns, roads, ponds, farm buildings and lawn/field care specifically repair and construction of fences.
- Perform routine tractor operations.
- May handle pesticides, herbicides, and hazardous chemicals on a team or alone.
- Provides routine animal care such as daily feeding, watering, cleaning/sanitation of stalls and barns, rotational grazing, monitoring health and safety of animals and transportation of animals to the proper location.
- Performs others duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Level I:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Level II:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of experience in farming practices
Level III:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 4 years of experience in farming practices
Level IV:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 years of experience in farming practices
SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED FOR EXPERIENCE:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Minimum license and certifications:
- Possession of a valid driver's license upon hire. Ability to obtain a pesticide license may be required in specific positions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Able to repair and construct fences. Tractor operation.
- Experience in hay management and harvesting.
- Experience in care and well-being of livestock.
