SUMMARY
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a work-study student position responsible for assisting in the operations and activities of a department or a departmental project, program, or function. Student assistants (work study) in Agricultural Mechanics serve as shop hands supporting the Agricultural Engineering Technology (AET) Program. This role is hands-on and active, ideal for students who enjoy working in practical, applied environments.
Work will take place in a semi-conditioned shop environment as well as outdoors, depending on project needs. Students should be comfortable getting dirty, working on their feet, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and other student workers to keep the laboratory spaces safe, functional, and ready for instruction.
This position offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience in an applied agricultural mechanics setting while contributing directly to the daily operations and long-term projects of the AET Program.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.
A student must be awarded and accept a "Work-Study Permit" for each semester the student will be working.
Ability to perform physical work including lifting and moving items weighing more than 50 pounds.
