SUMMARY
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a student position responsible for driving a university vehicle to off-campus locations. Responsible for transporting individuals and/or materials as assigned. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.
Must have (or be able to obtain) a University Driving Permit; SFA Driving Permit and Van Certification required.
Must be enrolled in the lab class for which you will be driving - Forestry, Environmental Science, Geospatial Science, and Geography students only!
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Operates university vehicle to/from off-campus locations as instructed.
2. Transports individual and/or materials as assigned.
3. Responsible for the safety of passengers and university vehicles.
4. Abides by all state and federal laws concerning over-the-road vehicles.
5. Maintains mileage log.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

2. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university and college policies and procedures.
3. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, basic vehicle maintenance.
4. Ability to accurately maintain records and files.
5. Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
6. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
7. Ability to operate vehicles safely.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
