The Carrington Research Extension Center is seeking a Field Research Technician for the Organic Cropping Systems Program. The person in this position is responsible for assisting in operating planting and harvest equipment, as well as other tractors or implements needed for conduct agronomic field research. The person will be responsible for handling seed, grain, and forage samples, need to maintain and repair equipment, operate a grain cleaner, maintain a sanitary work environment, assist with tasks related to general CREC needs, and work as a team to accomplish tasks. Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours at various times of the year.
Hiring Range:
$44,000 to $53,000 depending on experience
Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
Minimum Qualifications:
• H.S. diploma
• Related experience, with knowledge of field crop production and equipment operation
• The experience or demonstrated ability to learn the skills necessary to operate and maintain plot-scale field equipment
• Willingness to be timely to work schedule and desire to put forth consistent and full work days
• Experience with equipment maintenance
• Current or ability/desire to attain a North Dakota Commercial Pesticide Applicators License
• Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
• 3 years hands-on and practical experience in crop production
• Experience with field equipment operation
• Experience with basic lab equipment such as scales, computers, seed counter, or others
• Computer software familiarity with programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Verified experience in repair and maintenance of farm equipment
Core Competencies:
Equipment operation, communication skills, teamwork, detail oriented, equipment maintenance experience.
