Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION: 
Responsible for maintaining essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware. Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative. Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems that provide commercial advantages in a global marketplace. Enable faster and smarter business processes and implement analytics for meaningful insights. Nurture dependable IT infrastructure and networking that’s always up and running. Partner with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements. Collaborate with department team to accomplish goals within designated time frames. Oversee all aspects of company servers, including backup and failover solutions. Work directly with accounting and external vendors concerning the Costpoint application. Ensure the virtualized components within the company are built correctly and maintained to the best of our ability. Configure/manage/maintain company phone system. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly.
  2. Monitor datacenter health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers as needed.
  3. Maintain internal infrastructure requirements including, laptop and desktop computers, servers, printers, phones, security updates; help support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, routers, switches, firewalls, and network segments.
  4. Interact with the help desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed.
  5. Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including all backups, and test backups appropriately. Install and configure software and hardware.
  6. Manage network servers and technology tools. Set up accounts and workstations.
  7. Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements. Troubleshoot issues and outages.
  8. Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls. Develop expertise to train staff concerning new technologies.
  9. Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies.
  10. Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues our users encounter. Manage the configuration and operation of client-based computer operating systems. Monitor the system daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns. Create and verify backups of servers/data. Data Recovery duties as needed.
  11. Respond to and resolve help desk requests.
  12. Upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution. Work closely with Security personnel in keeping all devices at a secure level.
  13. Administrate infrastructure, including firewalls, databases, malware protection software, and other processes.
  14. Review application logs and other log files regularly.
  15. Configure, manage, and maintain all aspects of the company phone system.
  16. Consult with external vendors concerning cloud-based systems and manage necessary applications. Install and test computer-related equipment.
  17. Maintain knowledge in other areas to assist as needed with the overall operation of the department. 
  18. Occasional on-call responsibilities.
  19. Ensure AFMC, state and federal protocols regarding data confidentiality/security and HIPAA compliance.
  20. Adhere to format, content and style guidelines, giving consideration to usability and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality.

  22. Additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Advanced skill level with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Type 50 wpm.
  • Exceptional skills in business English and spelling are required. 
  • Good command of the English language and knowledge of punctuation, grammar, and spelling are required.

Job Requirements

Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices):
Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, ability to read and write, ability to communicate with personnel, ability to remain calm under stress and ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of performing the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree or additional education in related field. (Total of eight (8) years' experience as a System Administrator and an Associate degree in a related field may be substituted for the bachelor's degree)
The following certifications are required:
•    VEEAM
•    PCNSA or PCNSE
•    Additionally, other certifications may be acceptable.

Desirable: Master’s degree

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Five (5) years' experience as System Administrator (1)
Desirable: Experience in VMWare, VEEAM, Costpoint, REDCap, system vulnerabilities, Security, Firewalls, and Telecommunication systems

INTERNET REQUIREMENTS:
Reliable, high-speed wireless internet service (Wi-Fi)

(1) Five years of experience as a System Administrator and an associate’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
