About the Role
The Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the financial management of a large-scale, multi-year public health initiative. This position applies governmental accounting principles to oversee funding streams, ensure compliance, and support accurate financial reporting tied to grant-funded programs.
Working closely with program leadership, finance teams, and external stakeholders, the Accountant ensures that public funds are allocated, tracked, and reported with precision. The role requires both strong technical expertise and the ability to operate independently, making informed decisions in a fast-moving and evolving program environment.

What You’ll Do
Financial Management & Compliance
Ensure accurate, compliant financial operations aligned to public sector standards.
- Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and governmental accounting standards
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and related frameworks
- Interpret and apply federal budgeting and fiscal policies and procedures
- Support financial reporting, documentation, and audit readiness activities
Fund Oversight & Grant Accounting
Maintain accountability across complex funding streams tied to public programs and grants.
- Oversee funds in accordance with statutory requirements and approved allocations
- Support project setup, including budgeting structures and financial tracking processes
- Manage grant and contract amendments, renewals, and submissions
- Ensure alignment between program activities and financial controls
Systems & Process Expertise
Leverage financial systems and process improvements to strengthen operations.
- Utilize and support advanced functionality within Encompass financial modules
- Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, controls, and efficiency
