Duties
- Safely operate snow shovels, snow blowers, and other manual or power tools to clear snow and ice from designated outdoor surfaces
- Assess weather conditions regularly to determine priority areas for snow removal
- Apply salt or de-icing agents to prevent ice formation and ensure safety on walkways and steps
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas by removing snow from entrances, parking lots, pathways, and stairs
- Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent slips, trips, and falls during snow removal activities
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate snow clearing efforts efficiently
- Perform routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs
Requirements
- Prior outdoor work experience preferred; ability to work in cold weather conditions is essential
- Mechanical knowledge or familiarity with landscape maintenance equipment is a plus
- Experience operating hand tools, power tools, or groundskeeping equipment such as shovels, snow blowers, or salt spreaders
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to outdoor winter work environments
- Ability to identify hazards like icy patches or unstable surfaces and address them promptly
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy loads and stand for extended periods
- Basic understanding of landscaping or grounds maintenance is advantageous but not mandatory
