Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments and materials, maintaining strict aseptic technique and infection control standards.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Open Dental to ensure precise medical documentation and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation for patients requiring special attention or pediatric care.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and sterilize instruments to uphold the highest standards of infection control.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic environment, with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Open Dental.
- Ability to operate dental X-ray equipment safely and accurately; certification in radiography preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical records management for comprehensive patient care documentation.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate with team members.
