What are the responsibilities and job description for the Player Experience Researcher (Gaming) position at Affinity?
Our client, a global leader in interactive entertainment, is seeking a Player Experience Researcher to shape product and franchise strategy through high-impact, player-centered insights.
This role goes beyond feature-level testing, you’ll lead research across multiple products, turning complex player behavior and sentiment into clear, actionable strategies that influence creative, design, and business decisions. This is a hybrid position (3 days/week in Orlando, FL). Relocation provided to candidates outside Florida.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute portfolio-level research studies that inform both product design and long-term franchise strategy.
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including design, product, and analytics, to identify and prioritize research questions that drive impact.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research (e.g., surveys, playtests, interviews, usability studies) focused on player motivations, engagement, and retention.
- Translate insights into strategic recommendations and communicate them clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Champion and refine internal research frameworks and methodologies to scale research impact across multiple teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Psychology, Engineering Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Market Research, or related field.
- 4 years of professional experience conducting UX or player research across multiple products or large-scale platforms (gaming experience or passion for American football strongly preferred).
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and product direction through research storytelling and strategic insights.
- Experience working cross-functionally with design, product, and analytics teams.
- Familiarity with usability tools, statistical methods, and data visualization techniques.
