Senior Steel Project Manager

Position Overview

As a Senior Project Manager with AF Steel Fabricators, you are a driven, detail-oriented professional with exceptional leadership and organizational skills. In this role, you will oversee multiple PM teams that are managing multiple large-scale structural/misc. steel projects ranging from $1 million to $30 million, ensuring that each is delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

You will work closely with your PM teams, general contractors, estimators, fabrication, and field teams, and internal departments to manage scope, schedules, budgets, and team performance. Your ability to coordinate across disciplines, maintain strong relationships with clients, and ensure the highest quality standards will be key to your success.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage multiple PM teams that are managing multiple structural and miscellaneous steel projects from contract execution through completion.
• Process General Contractor (GC) contracts and ensure all terms and obligations are understood and met.
• Lead, mentor, and guide a team of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Coordinators.
• Review project scope, contracts, and drawings to fully understand project requirements and deliverables.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and internal job setup with accuracy and timeliness.
• Coordinate and track CCIP/OCIP enrollments when applicable.
• Ensure compliance with all corporate policies and procedures.
• Serve as the primary liaison between AF Steel and the GC for submittals, schedules, and revisions.
• Hold the PM teams assigned to you accountable for all aspects of their projects and jobs.
• Review all drawings for accuracy and consistency with design documents.
• Help assist in collaborations with the Shop Manager to align fabrication schedules with project delivery timelines.
• Help assist in coordinatizations with field installation teams to ensure readiness, logistics, and safe installation sequencing.
• Work with the Safety Manager to confirm that all jobsite safety documentation is complete before mobilization.
• Maintain schedule, submittal, and change order logs, ensuring timely communication of updates to all stakeholders.
• Utilize TEKLA to monitor production and assembly status within the shop.
• Partner with the Estimating Department to verify and track project scope and cost accuracy.
• Proactively identify and resolve project challenges to ensure successful execution.

Background & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical or engineering training preferred.
• 5 years of experience as a Project Manager or Estimator in the structural/miscellaneous steel industry.
• Experience as a fabricator or erector may substitute for detailing/drafting background.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with TEKLA PowerFab EPM, Procore, and general construction estimating software.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills

• Deep understanding of fabrication and erection standards, procedures, and sequencing.
• Knowledge of AISC, PCI, and AWS D1.1/D1.5 codes and standards.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project manuals.
• Proven ability to manage large commercial and industrial projects simultaneously.
• Working knowledge of 3D modeling systems (TEKLA).
• Proficiency with:
• Sage/Timberline, PlanGrid, Smartsheet, Docusign, Adobe PDF Editor
• MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy, deadlines, and accountability.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $110,000 – $140,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

Schedule

• Full-time | Monday – Friday | 8-10 hour shift
• Weekend availability as required
