Accounting Manager

Job Description

AES Restaurant Group is seeking a hands-on and technically strong Accounting Manager to join our corporate support team in Zionsville, Indiana. This position will support accounting operations across our growing, multi-state organization.

The ideal candidate will have progressive accounting experience in a high-volume, multi-entity environment such as restaurants, hospitality, retail, healthcare, or similar industries. This individual must be comfortable managing the full month-end close process, reviewing work, analyzing financial data, and supporting a team of accountants.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close processes from beginning to completion

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, financial schedules, and reports

• Ensure delivery of a complete, accurate, and review-ready month-end close package

• Lead balance sheet reconciliation processes, investigating and resolving discrepancies

• Prepare financial statements and reporting packages for leadership

• Review staff accountants’ work and provide guidance, training, and support

• Analyze financial performance at both restaurant-level and consolidated company-level

• Identify unusual balances, missing data, and opportunities to improve processes

• Support annual audits, including preparation of schedules and documentation

• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures

• Partner cross-functionally to understand operational impact on financial reporting

• Assist in developing a high-performing and accountable accounting team

Qualifications:

• Progressive accounting experience (Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar)

• Experience owning or leading the month-end close process

• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting

• Ability to assess accuracy and completeness of financial data

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to learn accounting systems

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• High attention to detail, ownership, and follow-through

• Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff is preferred

• Experience in multi-location or multi-entity environments is strongly preferred

• Industry experience in restaurants, hospitality, retail, healthcare, or similar is preferred

• Exposure to ASC 842 lease accounting and/or sales tax compliance is a plus

Schedule:

• Full-time position

• Monday through Friday

• 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• This is an on-site only position and is not remote or hybrid

Work Location:

Zionsville, IN. Candidates must live within a reasonable daily commuting distance of the office. A commute of approximately 30 minutes or less is strongly preferred. This is a fully on-site position.
