The Strategic Planning Manager serves as a critical bridge between the supply chain, planning, and engineering functions—driving end-to-end integration and ensuring advanced visibility of the project pipeline for execution. This role leads cross-functional initiatives, optimizes supply chain performance, and develops mid- to long-term strategic plans to ensure seamless coordination between demand forecasting, planning, procurement, and engineering.
The manager also identifies strategic projects and engages cross-functional teams to ensure timely documentation and early initiation of bidding processes. The Strategic Planning Manager serves as a critical bridge between the supply chain, planning, and engineering functions—driving end-to-end integration and ensuring advanced visibility of the project pipeline for execution. This role leads cross-functional initiatives, optimizes supply chain performance, and develops mid- to long-term strategic plans to ensure seamless coordination between demand forecasting, planning, procurement, and engineering.
The manager also identifies strategic projects and engages cross-functional teams to ensure timely documentation and early initiation of bidding processes. These projects include large-scale, highly complex engineered initiatives, equipment, and associated services related to Generation, Transmission, and Distribution.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement integrated strategic plans that align with early bidding initiation and long-term business goals.
- Act as the principal liaison between supply chain, planning, and engineering to foster collaboration and information flow.
- Analyze internal data to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and recommend actionable strategies.
- Champion change management and the adoption of best practices in planning and supply chain processes.
- Coordinate with Sourcing teams to develop a multi-year project pipeline and delivery schedule.
- Gather and consolidate stakeholder inputs such as specifications, scopes of work, and contractual terms to support sourcing and planning activities.
- Identify and present solutions to close gaps and mitigate risks that could impact project objectives.
- Engage with planning and engineering teams to ensure all tactical steps are taken for successful execution of competitive bidding processes.
- Ensure the planning information system is continuously updated and accurate.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain Category Managers to forecast and plan category supply requirements for each business unit.
- Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with major internal stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver high-impact presentations to communicate long-term planning strategies and supply requirements to executive stakeholders.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation and technical specifications are in place for all strategic projects.
- Some travel may be required
- Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Support contract and warranty reviews to ensure alignment with company policies and practices.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Minimum of 10 years of successful experience in supply chain, planning, or a related strategic role, preferably in a complex or global environment.
- Demonstrated experience in complex construction projects related to Power Generation and/or Transmission & Distribution.
- Proven ability to manage relationships and negotiations with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
- Familiarity with OEMs, contracts, and power equipment manufacturing (e.g., turbines, transformers, utility infrastructure).
- Proven leadership of cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives with measurable outcomes.
- Highly collaborative with strong consensus-building skills in fluid and sometimes ambiguous environments.
- Ability to lead through influence in a diverse organizational setting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Project management experience with large-scale initiatives.
- Expertise in change management and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and supply chain planning tools; proficiency in Excel and Power BI is a plus.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
