What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Hygiene Report Writer position at AERIS?
About the Role:
AERIS Indoor Environmental Services is growing, and our Austin field team needs a report writer to keep work moving. You'll take what our field techs collect and turn it into finished, defensible asbestos and mold reports, and you'll be the main contact for customers' questions about their reports.
This role suits an experienced field tech who knows the work from the inside and wants to step off the road into report writing or project coordination. It is not a management role, but it is a step toward project management if that's where you want to go.
What You'll Do:
- Turn field techs' notes, photos, moisture readings, sample chains of custody, and lab results into completed asbestos survey and mold assessment reports.
- Review lab results (PLM, PCM, spore trap, tape/swab) and write clear conclusions and recommendations.
- Answer customer questions about reports, findings, and next steps by phone and email.
- Coordinate field data collection: make sure techs collect the right samples, photos, and readings so every job comes back complete.
- Catch missing or inconsistent field data early and work with techs to fix it before the report is due.
- Keep templates, terminology, and QA/QC consistent across all reports.
- Track report status and turnaround times so jobs aren't delayed.
What You Need:
- 2 years of hands-on field experience in asbestos and mold inspection/sampling (required).
- Working knowledge of AHERA/NESHAP asbestos procedures and mold assessment and remediation standards.
- Ability to read and interpret lab reports.
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable talking with customers and explaining technical findings in plain language.
- Organized and able to manage several reports and deadlines at once.
Nice to Have:
- Texas DSHS Asbestos Inspector license and/or TDLR Mold Assessor license.
- Lead-based paint or IAQ experience.
- Interest in growing into project management.
- Google Workspace experience (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
Why AERIS:
- Move from field work to an office role without starting over.
- Standardized templates and tools so you can focus on writing, not formatting.
- A growing company with a clear path toward project management.
