Job Title: Scientist II
Location: Ridgefield, CT
Duration: 24 months
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week (8 hours per day)
Role Overview
The Scientist II will be responsible for conducting in vitro studies, designing and executing cell-based and biochemical assays, and supporting research initiatives with integrity and precision. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a scientific environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate and complete routine in vitro studies independently, interpreting outcomes and proposing follow-up experiments.
- Assist in the design and execution of non-routine cell-based and biochemical assays; conduct exploratory experiments.
- Perform literature searches and extract relevant information from published protocols.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment independently; troubleshoot effectively.
- Communicate results orally and in writing; contribute to protocols, procedures, and technical reports.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic lab notebooks; ensure data integrity and ethical reporting.
- Comply with regulations and SOPs, performing all work safely and in accordance with company policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in aseptic animal tissue culture techniques.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR, Western Blot, ELISA, and transfection.
- Strong experimental design, execution, and interpretation skills.
- Proven problem-solving ability and eagerness to learn new technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for concise and accurate reporting.
- Proficiency with data analysis software (Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism).
- Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment.
Education
- Master’s degree in a related scientific discipline, OR
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO environments highly desirable.
- Non-PhD applicants required.
