Master Machinist
Location: Schaumburg, IL
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $80,000 – $105,000
We are seeking an experienced Master Machinist to join a growing manufacturing team in Schaumburg, IL. This role is ideal for a highly skilled CNC professional who thrives in a precision machining environment and enjoys mentoring others while driving operational excellence.
This position will play a key role in supporting production operations through advanced machining expertise, troubleshooting, process improvements, and leadership on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and program CNC machines for complex and precision machining applications
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Perform advanced inspections and quality control checks to ensure parts meet specifications
- Troubleshoot CNC machinery, tooling, and machining process issues
- Train and mentor junior machinists and operators
- Identify and implement machining and process improvements to increase efficiency and quality
- Perform routine and advanced maintenance on CNC equipment
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support manufacturing goals
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred
- Several years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of CNC programming, tooling, and machine operations
- Proven ability to handle complex machining tasks with precision and accuracy
- Experience troubleshooting machining and equipment issues
- Leadership or mentoring experience within a shop environment preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience
- Advanced CNC setup and programming
- Precision machining and inspection
- Continuous improvement/process optimization
- Blueprint and GD&T interpretation
- Manufacturing shop floor leadership
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
- Comfortable working throughout a manufacturing facility
- Ability to safely operate CNC equipment and inspection tools
- Strong visual attention to detail for part inspection and blueprint reading
Work Environment
- Manufacturing production floor environment with some office-based responsibilities
