Overview
A leading provider of industrial automation solutions is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting automated material handling and mobile robotics projects throughout North America.
This leadership position is responsible for overseeing Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineering while driving successful execution of custom automation projects from concept through customer implementation. Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineering teams.
- Manage engineering resources, priorities, and project workloads across multiple customer programs.
- Drive engineering execution to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and meet quality and safety standards.
- Establish and improve engineering processes, documentation, design standards, and best practices.
- Partner closely with Project Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, and Applications Engineering to ensure successful project execution.
- Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support proposal development, conceptual system design, and technical sales activities.
- Monitor project risks and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Develop departmental KPIs and lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, standardization, and engineering excellence.
- Oversee engineering documentation, CAD systems, bills of material, and configuration management.
- Manage departmental budgets and contribute to strategic planning and long-term organizational growth.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 8 years of engineering experience within one or more of the following:
- Industrial Automation
- Automated Material Handling
- Mobile Equipment
- Robotics
- Manufacturing Automation
- 5 years of engineering leadership or management experience.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong background managing multiple engineering projects in customer-driven environments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Experience with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), or automated material handling systems.
- Experience supporting custom-engineered equipment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Customer-facing engineering or technical sales support experience.
Technical Knowledge
Ideal candidates will have experience with several of the following:
