What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Field Service Engineer position at Aegis Worldwide?
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate machine installations and retrofits in collaboration with internal teams, customers, and contractors
- Perform machine setup, commissioning, production validation runs, and final testing
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and lubrication systems
- Conduct warranty repairs and provide ongoing service support
- Train customer personnel on proper operation, maintenance, and safety protocols
- Complete service reports, checklists, time sheets, and customer-facing documentation
- Disassemble and prepare machines for shipping with accurate labeling for reassembly
- Adhere to company quality, safety, and environmental standards during fieldwork
- Suggest process improvements and cost-saving measures when applicable
Technical Skills & Experience:
- Strong mechanical background with CNC machine tool experience (3-axis, 5-axis, lathes, servos, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens, and/or Bosch Rexroth controls
- Electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills required
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical manuals
- Proficiency with hand tools, electrical test equipment, and machine shop tools
- Familiarity with software testing, troubleshooting, and recovery processes (with engineering support)
- Experience performing basic machining operations and mechanical alignments during installs
- Metal cutting experience is highly preferred
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED 10–15 years of experience in a skilled trade, or
- Associate’s degree 6–10 years of experience, or
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship or technical certification program
- Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Controls Engineering is a strong plus
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check
