Position SummaryThe Industrial Maintenance Planner / Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all preventive and corrective maintenance activities within a food production facility. This role owns and administers the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring accurate asset data, work order management, inventory coordination, and PM optimization.The ideal candidate has strong CMMS expertise, experience in a food manufacturing environment, and a deep understanding of regulatory compliance (GMP, FDA, USDA). This position plays a critical role in maximizing equipment uptime, improving reliability, and supporting food safety standards.Key ResponsibilitiesCMMS Ownership & AdministrationServe as primary administrator and subject matter expert for the plant CMMS systemMaintain complete and accurate asset hierarchy, equipment records, and maintenance historyCreate, assign, track, and close work orders with detailed documentationDevelop and continuously improve preventive maintenance (PM) schedulesGenerate weekly and monthly KPI reports (PM compliance, downtime, backlog, wrench time, MTBF, etc.)Train maintenance personnel on CMMS usage and documentation standardsMaintenance Planning & SchedulingPlan and schedule all preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activitiesCoordinate maintenance schedules with production to minimize disruptionPrioritize work orders based on safety, food safety, and operational impactEnsure labor, parts, tools, and contractor resources are available prior to scheduled workLead weekly planning meetings with maintenance and production leadershipParts & Inventory CoordinationCoordinate ordering and kitting of parts for scheduled PMs and projectsManage maintenance inventory levels in collaboration with purchasingEstablish minimum/maximum stock levels for critical sparesWork with suppliers to resolve parts issues and lead time challengesFood Safety & Regulatory ComplianceEnsure maintenance practices align with FDA/USDA, GMP, HACCP, and SQF standardsDevelop PM procedures that support food safety and sanitation requirementsSupport internal and external auditsMaintain documentation required for regulatory complianceContinuous Improvement & ReliabilityAnalyze maintenance data to identify trends and improvement opportunitiesOptimize PM frequency and procedures based on equipment performanceSupport root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementationCollaborate with engineering on new equipment PM development and startup planningQualificationsEducationAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, Business, or related field preferredEquivalent hands-on maintenance planning experience consideredExperience3–5 years of maintenance planning/scheduling experience in food manufacturingDirect CMMS administration experience requiredExperience working in FDA or USDA regulated environment preferredTechnical SkillsCMMS administration (e.g., SAP PM, eMaint, Fiix, Maximo, MP2, etc.)Preventive & Predictive Maintenance (PM/PdM) developmentUnderstanding of industrial equipment (conveyors, mixers, fillers, packaging lines, refrigeration, boilers)Electrical and mechanical systems knowledgeInventory and spare parts managementStrong Excel and data analysis skillsKey CompetenciesHighly organized with strong attention to detailData-driven decision makingStrong communication and coordination skillsAbility to balance urgency with long-term planningFood safety and compliance mindsetWork EnvironmentFood production facility (may include temperature-controlled environments)Office and plant floor presence requiredMay require occasional off-shift coordination or project supportYou should be proficient in:Time Study AnalysisLean Manufacturing PrinciplesMaintenance and Repair SkillsVendor & Supplier ManagementMachines & technologies you'll use:ERP Software
