What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electronics Quality Assurance Technician (Building Automation) position at Aegis Manufacturing & Engineering?
Aegis Worldwide
Electronics Quality Assurance Technician (Building Automation)
Location: Kokomo, IN
Schedule: 1st Shift, Full-Time
Compensation: $55,000–$70,000
A day in this role
You start your morning by reviewing the QC dashboard, queuing up first article inspections, and outlining the day’s test requirements. Early production runs need your sign-off, so you verify data, capture measurements, and publish concise QC reports that keep lines moving.
Mid-morning, an offline unit lands on your bench. You pull up the schematics and PCB layout, trace the suspected fault, and confirm the root cause with your oscilloscope and multimeter. A quick soldering/desoldering rework restores functionality—and your documentation closes the loop for the team.
After lunch, you switch to incoming inspections and RMA evaluations. You perform visual checks, confirm critical dimensions, run functional tests, and determine the correct disposition of components and finished units. As issues surface, you help open MRRs and CARs, process vendor returns, and brief Production, Purchasing, and Engineering.
Before you leave, you join a cross-functional huddle to share findings and align on corrective actions. The bench is tidied, the lab stays organized, and the next shift has everything they need.
What you’ll do
- Own QC databases: log results, perform first article inspections, define test plans, and publish QC reports that support daily production flow.
- Troubleshoot and repair offline units: interpret schematics/PCB layouts, pinpoint root causes, and perform precise soldering/desoldering on electronic components.
- Complete incoming inspections and RMA reviews: visual verification, dimensional checks, functional testing, and final disposition.
- Drive quality investigations: create MRRs/CARs, manage vendor returns, and communicate outcomes with Production, Purchasing, and Engineering.
- Engage as a core teammate in Quality and Engineering: attend meetings, facilitate cross-department communication, and maintain a clean, well-organized lab.
What you bring
- Associate’s degree in electrical technology, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 2 years as a tester/inspector and 3 years in a quality-focused role.
- Strong grasp of electronic components and circuit board analysis; fluent reading of schematics; comfortable with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and calipers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; solid documentation habits and data analysis skills; familiarity with manufacturing/inspection tools and precision measurement techniques.
- Clear communication, strong organization, commitment to safety and procedures, and effective collaboration across functions.
- Preferred: Syteline ERP experience, advanced product installation knowledge, and understanding of design techniques, tooling principles, and machine operation.
