Water/Wastewater Project Manager

Our client is a global infrastructure consulting firm with a recognized water and wastewater practice serving municipal and utility clients across the country. They are expanding their Hampton Roads team and looking for a project manager who can lead treatment and conveyance projects from planning and design through construction services, coordinate multidiscipline teams, and deliver effective solutions for complex water and wastewater systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage planning, design, and construction phase services for water and wastewater treatment, collection, pumping, and distribution projects, including pipelines, pump and lift stations, storage, and related facilities.
- Lead multidiscipline project teams (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, I&C) to develop coordinated plans, specifications, and reports for municipal and utility clients.
- Own project scope, schedule, budget, and delivery across the full project lifecycle, including design documents, construction support, and closeout.
- Provide technical leadership and QA/QC on hydraulic calculations, process evaluations, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues, respond to RFIs and submittals, and support field observations during construction.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers in design standards and best practices for water and wastewater projects.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering.
- 7 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering and project delivery.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Demonstrated experience managing water and wastewater infrastructure projects through design and construction services for municipal or utility clients.
- Proficiency with MS Office and common project collaboration and controls tools such as SharePoint, e‑Builder, Unifier, or P6.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in water and wastewater projects.
- PE license in Virginia, or the ability to obtain one in a reasonable timeframe.
- Experience with Hampton Roads area municipal or utility clients and familiarity with regional permitting and regulatory requirements.
