Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Tow Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting vehicles, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring efficient operations. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to handle various towing equipment, including flatbeds. The Tow Truck Driver plays a vital role in maintaining safety standards and delivering prompt assistance to our clients in need.
Duties
- Operate tow trucks, including flatbed and other specialized vehicles, to recover and transport vehicles efficiently and safely
- Load and unload vehicles using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or manual methods
- Conduct basic automotive diagnostics and mechanical assessments to determine the best towing approach
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting clients professionally during stressful situations
- Maintain cleanliness and routine inspections of tow trucks to ensure safety and operational readiness
- Manage conflict resolution effectively when dealing with distressed or upset customers
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving and operating towing equipment
- Assist with vehicle repairs or mechanical troubleshooting as needed, leveraging automotive repair knowledge
- Document all towing activities accurately for company records
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Experience operating tow trucks, especially flatbeds, is highly preferred
- Mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive diagnostics, repair, or mechanic work
- Familiarity with manual transmissions and automotive systems
- Ability to load & unload vehicles safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or manual tools
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to manage conflict professionally
- Experience with automotive diagnostics, mechanical repairs, or mechanic experience is a plus
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy loads and working in various weather conditions
- Prior experience with commercial driving or tow truck operations is desirable
