- Process payroll using advanced payroll management systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian, Isolved and other accounting software to ensure accurate employee compensation.
- Perform detailed data entry of payroll information, including hours worked, wage adjustments, benefits deductions, tax withholdings, and other related data.
- Reconcile payroll accounts through general ledger accounting practices, ensuring all debits and credits are accurately recorded and balanced.
- Manage benefits administration tasks such as enrollments, terminations, and changes within HRIS (Human Resources Information System) platforms.
- Conduct account reconciliations to verify accuracy of payroll transactions and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare journal entries related to payroll expenses and process accounts payable and receivable as needed.
- Maintain compliance with tax regulations by preparing tax filings and ensuring proper withholding procedures are followed.
- Support non-profit or governmental accounting processes if applicable, including tracking grants or special funding sources related to payroll activities.
- Assist with audits by providing detailed reports on payroll transactions and related financial data.
- Collaborate with human resources teams to ensure correct benefits administration and employee record updates.
- Experience in payroll management.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits.
- Knowledge of federal and state tax regulations related to payroll processing.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems such as UltiPro, PeopleSoft, or Ceridian is highly desirable.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in 10 key typing is preferred.
- Ability to analyze financial data effectively and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Background in corporate accounting or non-profit accounting is advantageous.
- Experience with governmental accounting practices or specialized financial concepts is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
