AdviniaCare Newport, a skilled nursing facility in Newport, RI, is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing Services to lead our nursing department. In this role, you’ll guide a dedicated team of nurses and caregivers, uphold high clinical standards and ensure every resident receives safe, compassionate, person-centered care.
This is a full-time leadership position reporting to the Administrator and working closely with the facility’s leadership team.
What you’ll do
Lead, direct and evaluate all nursing services and staff (RNs, LPNs and CNAs)
Ensure compliance with CMS, Rhode Island Department of Health and facility standards
Lead survey readiness and develop plans of correction as needed
Oversee clinical quality, QAPI initiatives and infection prevention programs
Manage nursing staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention and performance
Develop and manage the nursing department budget
Collaborate with the MDS team, physicians, therapy and other departments on resident care
Review and update nursing policies, procedures and clinical protocols
Support staff education, orientation and ongoing competency training
Build strong relationships with residents, families and community partners
What we’re looking for
Active Rhode Island RN license or multistate (compact) RN license in good standing
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
3 years of nursing leadership experience in long-term care or skilled nursing (DNS/DON or ADON experience preferred)
Strong knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations and the survey process
Proven ability to lead teams, improve clinical outcomes and manage budgets
Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills
Experience with electronic health records (e.g., PointClickCare) preferred
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, with on-call and flexibility as needed
