Job Summary:
Directs and supervises various levels of ancillary personnel, staffing and caseload control, while utilizing both professional and supervisory discretion as well as independent judgment. Serves as administrative support for managers. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD): Required; only if obtained license on or after January 2007; or foreign equivalent.
- Five years' technical experience: Preferred
- Experience as Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist or Speech-Language Therapist: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- State Occupational Therapy (OT) license: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required
Essential Functions:
- Serves as both a clinical and professional role model/resource for department personnel, assisting in plan formulation, methodology creation, professional growth strategy development, personal enhancement and delivery of patient care. Acts as a liaison to physicians and other hospital personnel in matters concerning area operations.
- Supervises department personnel. Assesses personnel strengths, capabilities and limitations. Analyzes scope of responsibilities and skills. Ensures accuracy of personnel performance and completion of assigned tasks. Identifies employee growth and development opportunities. Provides immediate corrective action and feedback, as needed.
- Provides patient evaluation, treatment and care. Completes patient evaluations, implementing advanced clinical tests as needed. Incorporates treatments and approaches based on prescribed treatment plans. Documents and assesses patient status and management.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
