Job Summary
Serves the Adventist Health clinical documentation integrity (CDI) department system wide. Partners with the CDI program leadership to assist with designing, developing, assessing, planning and implementing CDI education for providers and CDI associates. Offers education with consideration to consistent education methodologies and formats. Participates in ongoing planning and strategic development for system CDI educational needs. Works under general supervision from the CDI leadership and utilizes critical thinking and organizational skills. Engages directly with provider and site leadership. Provides outstanding customer service with strong attention to consistent messaging and interactive presentation skills. Participates in education committees and various CDI program meetings. Participates in educating CDI associates on how to perform CDI activities at a high-level. Participates in on-boarding for both CDI associates and providers. Educates providers on proper documentation practices and expectations. Keeps abreast of regulatory changes related to documentation and coding and assists in communicating these changes in a positive and supportive manor. Follows documentation guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory bodies.

Job Requirements
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or other healthcare related field: Required
- Master’s degree in nursing education (MSN) or related health care related field: Preferred
- Five years' clinical documentation integrity experience: Required
- Three years' clinical experience: Required
- Experience educating in a healthcare or clinical documentation integrity setting: Required
- Current licensed RN, medical provider or equivalent: Required
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) and /or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP): Required
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required
- Partners with CDI leadership to develop and deliver training for providers and CDI specialists on an ongoing basis. Provides additional education for providers and CDI staff based on data review and specific feedback about education opportunities.
- Ensures all education materials developed follow the review and approval processes as maintained through the CDI education program prior to delivering/presenting the materials.
- Collaborates with CDI leadership, coding, quality and physician advisors to identify provider education needs while keeping teams informed. Works with other departments to support CDI processes. Attends necessary meetings to receive feedback and requests for education.
- Coordinates provider education on-boarding. Creates physician and/or clinician education materials and tip sheets in partnership with CDI program leadership. Maintains provider education repository. Prepares and presents formal educational presentations to providers. Mentors providers and physician champions/advisors on CDI processes. Assists in onboarding new physicians to educate them on CDI processes and expectations.
- Acts as the subject matter expert (SME) for clinical documentation integrity. Maintains active involvement and collaboration with CDI education committees and subcommittees.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
